As I went out for our annual family tradition for Halloween this week .We go to the local Pumpkin patch and have each of the kids pick out their pumpkin, we also go to a local little shopping center where they have witches on display and we have an annual pumpkin carving night. I started to think about Family traditions. These traditions that we do with our family didn’t just happen all at once we have added and subtracted to fit with our family and what we love to do, It has taken many years to get all of our family together for these traditions and sometimes someone might miss out. As long as you keep doing them and you are enjoying your family they will become a tradition.
I am sure that if I listed all of our traditions it would take the whole article to name. We love getting together and we love spending time with each other. But as I was thinking we have also created little traditions with my husband as we got married and have decided to go our own way with others.
To start these family traditions it really only takes a few steps and maybe trying something new.
Here are the steps I thought of when we created our traditions.
1- Make sure that it creates unity, a sense of belonging and love
2- Make cure that it is the same time each year ( like a holiday )
3- Include everyone in the family
4- Make it your own add in your own flare
5- They don’t have to be extravagant or cost money
6- Have fun
I love that even though I am grown and have my own family that we still go back and share these memories with our spouses and our children. Making memories it what it is all about. I hope that you have many traditions in your family like I have in mine. If not I hope this helps to create some new ones.
